Why they are a saint

The Righteous Aaron (1445 B.C.) was the first Old Testament High Priest. The son of Amram and Jochebed of the tribe of Levi, and elder brother of the Prophet Moses and Miriam, was born in Egypt. Venerated as righteous, one who pleased God by a holy life in the world.

Patronage / why chosen as patron

Orthodox Christians usually take Aaron as a patron when they bear the name Aaron at baptism, or were born or baptized near the feast on July 20.
