Why they are a saint
The Holy Martyrs Akepsimas and Aithalas were from Persia. Akepsimas was a pagan priest in the city of Arbel. Having received healing through the prayers of a Christian bishop, he was converted to the faith in Christ and boldly confessed it. Venerated as a martyr who died for the faith in Christ.

Orthodox Christians usually take Akepsimas and Aithalas of Egypt as a patron when they bear the name Akepsimas at baptism, or were born or baptized near the feast on December 11. As a martyr, he is also asked for courage and faithfulness under trial.
