Why they are a saint

He practiced asceticism as a hermit near Cyrrhus, Syria during the reign of Theodosius the Great. Ven. Acepsimas spent 60 years in a rather narrow cave, committed to fasting and continual prayer, and not seeing anybody, and died in peace. Venerated as a monastic saint, honored for a life of prayer and asceticism.

Orthodox Christians usually take Akepsimos as a patron when they bear the name Akepsimos at baptism, or were born or baptized near the feast on November 3. As a monastic, he is also asked for help in prayer, fasting, and repentance.
