Saint Alexei (in the world Alexander Kabalyuk) was a missionary and an outstanding figure of the Orthodox Church of the Czech Lands and Slovakia at the turn of the XIX and XX centuries. The Orthodox Church commemorates Alexei on December 2.

Patronage / why chosen as patron

Orthodox Christians usually take Alexei as a patron when they bear the name Alexei at baptism, or were born or baptized near the feast on December 2. As a monastic, he is also asked for help in prayer, fasting, and repentance.
