Saint Amphilochius, Abbot of Glushetsa, already a monk of priestly rank, came from Ustiug to Saint Dionysius of Glushetsa (July 1) in the year 1417. The Orthodox Church commemorates Amphilochius on October 12.

Orthodox Christians usually take Amphilochius as a patron when they bear the name Amphilochius at baptism, or were born or baptized near the feast on October 12. As a monastic, he is also asked for help in prayer, fasting, and repentance.
