Why they are a saint

The Venerable Amphilocius already a monk came to the Glushetsk monastery to assist its rector the Venerable Dionysius (June 1). The Orthodox Church commemorates Venerables on October 12.

Patronage / why chosen as patron

Orthodox Christians usually take Amphilochius as a patron when they bear the name Venerables at baptism, or were born or baptized near the feast on October 12. As a monastic, he is also asked for help in prayer, fasting, and repentance.
