While Saint Ananias was being tortured for his belief in Christ, he said, “I see a ladder leading to heaven, and radiant men calling me to a marvelous city of light.”. The Orthodox Church commemorates Ananias the Persian on December 1.

Orthodox Christians usually take Ananias the Persian as a patron when they bear the name Ananias at baptism, or were born or baptized near the feast on December 1.
