Why they are a saint

Saint Anastasius of Sinai lived in the seventh century, and was one of the great ascetics who flourished on Mt. The Orthodox Church commemorates Anastasius on April 20.

Patronage / why chosen as patron

Orthodox Christians usually take Anastasius as a patron when they bear the name Anastasius at baptism, or were born or baptized near the feast on April 20. As a martyr, he is also asked for courage and faithfulness under trial.
