Why they are a saint

The legion captain from Constantinople, who was miraculously saved by theLord during a storm on the sea became a monk and led a strict ascetical life on MountLatros in Asia Minor near Miletus. The Orthodox Church commemorates Arsenios on December 13.

Patronage / why chosen as patron

Orthodox Christians usually take Arsenios as a patron when they bear the name Arsenios at baptism, or were born or baptized near the feast on December 13. As a monastic, he is also asked for help in prayer, fasting, and repentance.
