Why they are a saint

Saint Arsenius of Konevits was a native of Novgorod, a coppersmith by trade. The saint accepted tonsure at the Lisich monastery near Novgorod, where he spent eleven years. Venerated as a monastic saint, honored for a life of prayer and asceticism.

Patronage / why chosen as patron

Orthodox Christians usually take Arsenius as a patron when they bear the name Arsenius at baptism, or were born or baptized near the feast on June 12. As a monastic, he is also asked for help in prayer, fasting, and repentance.
