Why they are a saint

After seeking truth among many religious schools, including the Manicheans, Augustine was turned to faith in Christ through the cousel and fervent prayers of his mother St Monica. The Orthodox Church commemorates Augustine on June 15.

Patronage / why chosen as patron

Orthodox Christians usually take Augustine as a patron when they bear the name Augustine at baptism, or were born or baptized near the feast on June 15. As a bishop, he is also remembered by clergy and those who serve the Church.
