In Slavonic practice, Saint Barlaam is commemorated during the Proskomedia along with the venerable and God-bearing Fathers who shone forth in asceticism (sixth particle). The Orthodox Church commemorates Barlaam of Khutin on June 24.

Orthodox Christians usually take Barlaam of Khutin as a patron when they bear the name Barlaam at baptism, or were born or baptized near the feast on June 24. As a monastic, he is also asked for help in prayer, fasting, and repentance.
