Caesarius of Arles served as Bishop of Arles. Caesarius of Arles, sometimes called "of Chalon" from his birthplace Chalon-sur-Saône was the foremost ecclesiastic of his generation in Merovingian Gaul. The Church numbers him among its holy bishops.
