Saint Cassiani (Cassianḗ) is a well-known Byzantine poet (ποιήτρια), who lived during the reign of Emperor Theophilos (829 – 842). The Orthodox Church commemorates Cassiani the Hymnographer on September 7.

Orthodox Christians usually take Cassiani the Hymnographer as a patron when they bear the name Cassiani at baptism, or were born or baptized near the feast on September 7. As a monastic, he is also asked for help in prayer, fasting, and repentance.
