Why they are a saint
Blessed Christesia’s family was from Egrisi in western Georgia. From his youth Christesia longed for the divine services and the solitary life, but he was forced by his master to marry, and by this marriage he begot a son.
Patronage / why chosen as patron
Orthodox Christians usually take Christopher as a patron when they bear the name Christopher at baptism, or were born or baptized near the feast on May 11. Georgian Orthodox faithful also honor his as one of their own.
