Why they are a saint
The unnamed wife of Pontius Pilate appears only once in the Gospel of Matthew, where she intercedes with Pilate on Jesus' behalf. It is uncertain whether Pilate was actually married, although it is likely. In later tradition, she becomes known as Procula, Procla or Procle and plays a role in various New Testament Apocrypha.
Patronage / why chosen as patron
Orthodox Christians usually take Claudia Procula as a patron when they bear the name Claudia at baptism, or were born or baptized near the feast on October 27.
