Why they are a saint

Saint Constantia was from the city of Paphos on the island of Cyprus, and as Saint Jerome (Hieronymus) writes in his book On the Ecclesiastical Writers, she was the disciple of Saint Hilarion the Great (October 21) who lived as an ascetic in a village in the Diocese of Paphos. The Orthodox Church commemorates Constantia of Paphos on August 25.

Patronage / why chosen as patron

Orthodox Christians usually take Constantia of Paphos as a patron when they bear the name Constantia at baptism, or were born or baptized near the feast on August 25. Greek Orthodox faithful also honor his as one of their own.
