Why they are a saint

He was born a Muslim on the island of Lesbos (Mitylene), but became convinced of the truth of Christ after he was healed of a serious illness by the aid of holy water in a church. The Orthodox Church commemorates Constantine on June 15.

Patronage / why chosen as patron

Orthodox Christians usually take Constantine as a patron when they bear the name Constantine at baptism, or were born or baptized near the feast on June 15. As a martyr, he is also asked for courage and faithfulness under trial.
