Why they are a saint

Saint Cyril of Chelma Hill, Enlightener of the Chudian People, was born in the city of White Lake. He was tonsured at the monastery of Saint Anthony the Roman, where for six years he passed through various obediences. Venerated as a monastic saint, honored for a life of prayer and asceticism.

Patronage / why chosen as patron

Orthodox Christians usually take Cyril as a patron when they bear the name Cyril at baptism, or were born or baptized near the feast on December 8. As a monastic, he is also asked for help in prayer, fasting, and repentance.
