Why they are a saint
The Monk Dios was born in the city of Syrian Antioch towards the end of the IVCentury into a pious Christian family. The Orthodox Church commemorates Dios on July 19.
Patronage / why chosen as patron
Orthodox Christians usually take Dios as a patron when they bear the name Dios at baptism, or were born or baptized near the feast on July 19. As a monastic, he is also asked for help in prayer, fasting, and repentance.
