Why they are a saint

Saint Eanswythe was born around 614, the only daughter of King Eadbald of Kent and his wife Emma, who was a Frankish princess. The Orthodox Church commemorates Eanswythe on August 31.

Orthodox Christians usually take Eanswythe as a patron when they bear the name Eanswythe at baptism, or were born or baptized near the feast on August 31. As a monastic, she is also asked for help in prayer, fasting, and repentance.
