Why they are a saint
Saint Emmeleia was from a pious family of Caesarea in Cappadocia. Her father became a Martyr during the last persecutions.
Patronage / why chosen as patron
Orthodox Christians usually take Emmeleίa as a patron when they bear the name Emmeleίa at baptism, or were born or baptized near the feast on May 30. Greek Orthodox faithful also honor his as one of their own.
