Saints Cyril and Methodius, Equals of the Apostles, and Enlighteners of the Slavs came from an illustrious and pious family living in the Greek city of Thessalonica. The Orthodox Church commemorates and Teachers of the Slavs on May 11.

Orthodox Christians usually take Equals of the Apostles and Teachers of the Slavs as a patron when they bear the name and at baptism, or were born or baptized near the feast on May 11. As an apostle, he is also asked to pray for missionaries and those who spread the Gospel.
