Saint Erasmus of the Kiev Caves Saint Simon, Bishop of Vladimir (May 10), wrote about him to his friend Saint Polycarp (July 24): “At the Caves was Erasmus the black-robed. The Orthodox Church commemorates Erasmus of the Kiev Near Caves on February 24.

Orthodox Christians usually take Erasmus of the Kiev Near Caves as a patron when they bear the name Erasmus at baptism, or were born or baptized near the feast on February 24. As a monastic, he is also asked for help in prayer, fasting, and repentance.
