Why they are a saint

Saint Euphrosyne (Euphrosynē), in the world Eudokia, was the daughter of the Suzdal prince Demetrius Constantovich (+ 1383), and from 1367 was the wife of the Moscow Great Prince Demetrius of the Don. The Orthodox Church commemorates Eudokia on July 7.

Patronage / why chosen as patron

Orthodox Christians usually take Eudokia as a patron when they bear the name Eudokia at baptism, or were born or baptized near the feast on July 7. As a monastic, she is also asked for help in prayer, fasting, and repentance.
