Why they are a saint

The Holy Martyrs Eustathius, Thespesius and Anatolius, natives of the city of Gangra, were the children of a rich merchant. The Orthodox Church commemorates Eustace on November 20.

Patronage / why chosen as patron

Orthodox Christians usually take Eustace as a patron when they bear the name Eustace at baptism, or were born or baptized near the feast on November 20. As a martyr, he is also asked for courage and faithfulness under trial.
