The Hieromartyr Eutykhios, a disciple of the holy Apostles John the Theologian and Paul, lived from the I Century into the beginning II Century, and was from the city of Palestinian Sebasteia. The Orthodox Church commemorates Eutychius on August 24.

Patronage / why chosen as patron

Orthodox Christians usually take Eutychius as a patron when they bear the name Eutychius at baptism, or were born or baptized near the feast on August 24. As a martyr, he is also asked for courage and faithfulness under trial.
