Why they are a saint

Saint Flavian, Archbishop of Antioch, was a contemporary of Saint John Chrysostom. He attempted to obtain from the emperor Theodosius (379-395) a pardon for the citizens of Antioch, who had angered the emperor by destroying his statue. Venerated as a hierarch, a bishop who shepherded the Church in holiness.

Orthodox Christians usually take Flavianos of Constantinople as a patron when they bear the name Flavianos at baptism, or were born or baptized near the feast on February 16. As a bishop, he is also remembered by clergy and those who serve the Church.
