Why they are a saint

Hieromartyr Fructuosus, Bishop of Tarragon and with him the deacons Eulogius and Augrius are commemorated by the Orthodox Church on August 2. Venerated as hieromartyrs, clergy who were put to death for the faith in Christ; little else about their lives has come down to us.

Patronage / why chosen as patron

Orthodox Christians usually take Fructuosus as a patron when they bear the name Fructuosus at baptism, or were born or baptized near the feast on August 2. As a martyr, he is also asked for courage and faithfulness under trial.
