Why they are a saint

The Holy martyr Golinduc, in Baptism Mary, lived in Persia during the reign of Chosroes I the Elder. She was the wife of the chief magician of the Persian empire. Venerated as a martyr who died for the faith in Christ.

Patronage / why chosen as patron

Orthodox Christians usually take Golinduc as a patron when they bear the name Golinduc at baptism, or were born or baptized near the feast on July 12. As a martyr, he is also asked for courage and faithfulness under trial.
