Why they are a saint

Righteous Hezekiah was the son of the impious King Ahaz. The life of King Hezekiah is described in the Bible (4/2 Kings 18-20). However, many scholars disagree about the dates of King Hezekiah's life. Venerated as a right-believing ruler, honored for a holy life lived in a position of power.

Patronage / why chosen as patron

Orthodox Christians usually take Hezekiah as a patron when they bear the name Hezekiah at baptism, or were born or baptized near the feast on August 28. As a ruler, he is also remembered by those who bear responsibility for others.
