Why they are a saint

The Righteous Isaac was the second of the Old Testament Patriarchs, and the son of Abraham (Genesis 17:17-22). The Orthodox Church commemorates Isaac on December 15.

Patronage / why chosen as patron

Orthodox Christians usually take Isaac as a patron when they bear the name Isaac at baptism, or were born or baptized near the feast on December 15.
