Why they are a saint

Saint Isaac, the founder of the Dalmaton Monastery (Μονή Δαλμάτων) at Constantinople, lived during the IV century, in the reign of Emperor Valens (364-378), who was an adherent of the Arian heresy. The Orthodox Church commemorates Isaac the Confessor on March 22.

Orthodox Christians usually take Isaac the Confessor as a patron when they bear the name Isaac at baptism, or were born or baptized near the feast on March 22. As a monastic, he is also asked for help in prayer, fasting, and repentance.
