Why they are a saint

The Holy Martyrs Isaac, Apollos and Quadratus were pagans who served at the court of the emperor Diocletian (284-305). The Orthodox Church commemorates Isaac on April 21.

Patronage / why chosen as patron

Orthodox Christians usually take Isaac as a patron when they bear the name Isaac at baptism, or were born or baptized near the feast on April 21. As a martyr, he is also asked for courage and faithfulness under trial.
