Why they are a saint

Saint Jerome of Stridon was born into a Christian family in the city of Stridon located on the border between Dalmatia and Pannonia. The Orthodox Church commemorates Jerome on June 15.

Patronage / why chosen as patron

Orthodox Christians usually take Jerome as a patron when they bear the name Jerome at baptism, or were born or baptized near the feast on June 15. As a monastic, he is also asked for help in prayer, fasting, and repentance.
