John the Dwarf, also called John Colobus, John Kolobos or Abba John the Dwarf, was a Coptic Desert Father of the early Christian church.
Patronage / why chosen as patron
Orthodox Christians usually take John the Short as a patron when they bear the name John at baptism, or were born or baptized near the feast on November 9. As a monastic, he is also asked for help in prayer, fasting, and repentance.
