The Holy Martyr Julian was a native of the Phoenician city of Emesa, and he suffered in the year 312 under the emperor Maximian. The Orthodox Church commemorates Julian of Emesa on February 6.

Orthodox Christians usually take Julian of Emesa as a patron when they bear the name Julian at baptism, or were born or baptized near the feast on February 6. As a martyr, he is also asked for courage and faithfulness under trial.
