Why they are a saint

The Holy Martyrs Julian, Eunos [Kronion] his servant, Beza [Bisos] the soldier and Mekaros suffered at the beginning of the reign of Decius (249-251) at Alexandria. The Orthodox Church commemorates Julian on February 27.

Patronage / why chosen as patron

Orthodox Christians usually take Julian as a patron when they bear the name Julian at baptism, or were born or baptized near the feast on February 27. As a martyr, he is also asked for courage and faithfulness under trial.
