Why they are a saint
They were brothers from Greece, Christians from childhood; Julius was a priest, Julian a deacon. At the command of the Emperor Theodosius the Younger, they set out as missionaries to destroy idols and bring the people to faith in Christ throughout the Empire. During their lifetime they built a hundred churches and brought thousands to Christ.
Patronage / why chosen as patron
Orthodox Christians usually take Julius as a patron when they bear the name Julius at baptism, or were born or baptized near the feast on June 21.
