Why they are a saint

The martyred soldiers Juventinus and Maximus suffered during the reign of the emperor Julian the Apostate, whom they served as bodyguards. The Orthodox Church commemorates Juventinus and Maximus the soldiers on September 5.

Orthodox Christians usually take Juventinus and Maximus the soldiers as a patron when they bear the name Juventinus at baptism, or were born or baptized near the feast on September 5. As a martyr, he is also asked for courage and faithfulness under trial.
