Why they are a saint
Over the centuries the monastic complex founded by Saint David of Gareji became a spiritual and cultural center for all of Georgia. The Orthodox Church commemorates Kozman on July 18.
Patronage / why chosen as patron
Orthodox Christians usually take Kozman as a patron when they bear the name Kozman at baptism, or were born or baptized near the feast on July 18. As a martyr, he is also asked for courage and faithfulness under trial.
