Why they are a saint

The holy women martyrs Kyriake, Kaleria (Valeria), and Mary lived in Palestinian Caesarea during the persecution under Diocletian (284-305). The Orthodox Church commemorates Kyriake on June 7.

Orthodox Christians usually take Kyriake as a patron when they bear the name Kyriake at baptism, or were born or baptized near the feast on June 7. As a martyr, he is also asked for courage and faithfulness under trial.
