Why they are a saint
As Bishop of Brindisi, Leucius of Brindisi is numbered with the saints of the Church. Leucius was initially a missionary from Alexandria, Egypt, who later founded the Diocese of Brindisi as the first bishop in 165. The faithful ask his prayers as they do of the bishops who shepherded the Church.

Orthodox Christians usually take Leucius of Brindisi as a patron when they bear the name Leucius at baptism, or were born or baptized near the feast on June 20. As a bishop, he is also remembered by clergy and those who serve the Church.
