Why they are a saint
The Holy Martyrs Lucy (Lucia) the Virgin, Rexius, Antoninus, Lucian, Isidore, Dion, Diodorus, Cutonius, Arnosus, Capicus and Satyrus: Saint Lucy, a native of the Italian district of Campania, from the time of her youth dedicated herself to God and lived in an austere and chaste manner. The Orthodox Church commemorates Lucy on July 6.
Patronage / why chosen as patron
Orthodox Christians usually take Lucy as a patron when they bear the name Lucy at baptism, or were born or baptized near the feast on July 6. As a martyr, he is also asked for courage and faithfulness under trial.
