Why they are a saint

The Martyr Lupus lived at the end of the third century and beginning of the fourth century, and was a faithful servant of the holy Great Martyr Demetrius of Thessalonica (October 26). The Orthodox Church commemorates Lupus on October 26.

Patronage / why chosen as patron

Orthodox Christians usually take Lupus as a patron when they bear the name Lupus at baptism, or were born or baptized near the feast on October 26. As a martyr, he is also asked for courage and faithfulness under trial.
