New Calendar July 6 Old Calendar July 19
Why they are a saint
Marinus and Martha were wealthy Persians; but they sold all their goods and traveled to Rome with their sons Audifax, Habakkuk, Valentine, and Cyrinus, in order to venerate the holy relics of the apostles and martyrs. The Orthodox Church commemorates Marinus on July 6.
Patronage / why chosen as patron
Orthodox Christians usually take Marinus as a patron when they bear the name Marinus at baptism, or were born or baptized near the feast on July 6. As a martyr, he is also asked for courage and faithfulness under trial.
Prayer
