Why they are a saint
Saint Menas lived in asceticism for more than fifty years in the monastery of Sinai, where he died peacefully in the second half of the sixth century. The Orthodox Church commemorates Menas of Sinai on January 5.

Orthodox Christians usually take Menas of Sinai as a patron when they bear the name Menas at baptism, or were born or baptized near the feast on January 5. As a monastic, he is also asked for help in prayer, fasting, and repentance.
