Why they are a saint

As Patriarch of Constantinople, Methodius of Constantinople is numbered with the saints of the Church. Methodius I of Constantinople or Methodios I was the Ecumenical Patriarch of Constantinople from 11 March 843 until his death on 14 June 847. The Church numbers him among its holy bishops.

Orthodox Christians usually take Methodius of Constantinople as a patron when they bear the name Methodius at baptism, or were born or baptized near the feast on June 14. As a bishop, he is also remembered by clergy and those who serve the Church.
