Why they are a saint
Methodius the Apostle of the Slavs was elder brother of Cyril; archbishop of Moravia who finished the Slavic mission after Cyril's death. The years given for this life are c. 815–885. His feast remembers missionary labor, not merely a private piety.

Traditionally asked to pray for slavic peoples, translators, linguists (with Cyril). The reason for this custom is not recorded here.
