Why they are a saint
He was born in Tver in 1272 to Prince Yaroslav Yaroslavovich, who was the brother of St Alexander Nevsky (November 23). The Orthodox Church commemorates Michael on November 22.

Orthodox Christians usually take Michael as a patron when they bear the name Michael at baptism, or were born or baptized near the feast on November 22. As a martyr, he is also asked for courage and faithfulness under trial.
